Cohen & Grigsby said that attorney Christie Tillapaugh has been appointed to director of recruiting. In this role, Ms. Tillapaugh, a partner in the firm's business services group, will be responsible for the strategic development of the firm's recruiting initiatives and will also oversee the firm's summer associates program and integration of new associates. Ms. Tillapaugh specializes in counseling public and private companies with respect to corporate matters, corporate governance matters, securities law compliance and transactional matters. Paul J. Gitnik of Keevican Weiss Bauerle & Hirsch LLC was appointed to serve as a member of the Allegheny Regional Asset District Board by Allegheny County Executive Richard Fitzgerald. The mission of the board is to support and finance regional assets in the areas of libraries, parks and recreation, cultural, sports and civic facilities and programs. Mr. Gitnik's practice encompasses the areas of business, estates and trusts, healthcare, municipal, nonprofit, oil and gas, real estate and tax laws. He graduated from Duquesne University School of Law, and earned an advanced law degree in taxation from Georgetown University.
Leech Tishman has hired two new associates to its Pittsburgh office, Meagan E. Truong and Carly R. Wilson.
Ms. Truong joined its corporate practice group, where she will advise clients on a variety of corporate issues, including private equity acquisitions and divestitures and general corporate governance. She started her career with Leech Tishman as a law clerk while she attended The George Washington University Law School.
Ms. Wilson joins the firm's estates and trusts practice group, where she will focus her practice on the preparation of simple and complex wills, living wills and powers of attorney, estate planning and administration, trust preparation, development of lifetime gifting programs, and estate litigation. Prior to joining Leech Tishman, she was a tax attorney with the Internal Revenue Service.
Stephen H. Jordan of Rothman Gordon was named to the Best Lawyers' 2013 list in the Pittsburgh Employment Law category, and was named as one of the individual "Lawyers of the Year." Mr. Jordan is a graduate of the Thomas M. Cooley School of Law.
Shannon Poliziani has joined Reed Smith as counsel in the global regulatory enforcement group. Her experience includes the defense of professional liability claims, representing physicians, hospitals and other health care personnel. Ms. Poliziani started her legal career as an assistant district attorney in Houston, and then as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas, serving in both the violent crime and fraud divisions. She received her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center.
Jones Day announced that it will open an office in Amsterdam in early 2013, the firm's 38th worldwide, and 10th in Europe. The new office will focus initially on corporate mergers and acquisitions, private equity, capital markets, litigation, and antitrust law. It will be led by Luc Houben, previously the partner-in-charge of Jones Day's Brussels office, who has also practiced in New York and Tokyo.
