| Mary Chemleno made history in 1979 when a man named Kipsabi Kosgei proposed marriage and she answered, "If you agree for me to reun, we stay together. If you say no, I will go away." When he agreed, Mary became the first Kenyan woman to marry a Kenyan man and continue an international running career. Now 42, retired from competiion and living ona farm outside Eldoret, Kenya, Mary keep mementos from her running days on the wall of her hut.
