The 6th Annual NAPA Piney Lasky Memorial, a 100-lap feature event for the pavement Super Late Models, will take place today at Motordrome Speedway in Smithton, Westmoreland County.

Pavement Super Late Model competitors from five states expressed interest in the race to Motordrome Speedway promoter Stan Lasky, son of Piney Lasky, a former promoter of Jennerstown Speedway.

"We are expecting somewhere between 20-24 Super Late Models," Lasky said.

Of the travelers competing in the Lasky Memorial, Texas native Colt James, who now calls Mooresville, N.C., home, is looking to be the first two-time winner of the event after sitting out the 2012 event.

Neal Brown of Acme won the inaugural event in 2008 and Steve Black of Greensburg, the winner in 2012, are the only two local racers to win the Piney Lasky Memorial.

Jason Lasky, Piney's grandson and Stan's son, will be competing in the Piney Lasky Memorial.

Time trials for the NAPA Piney VI Super Late Model 100 begin at 7:30 p.m. and features for the four NASCAR weekly racing series divisions will go green at 8 p.m., followed by the Piney VI, which pays $2,000 to the winner plus lap money.
