It was a baseball game with a final score resembling a football game.

One could say Nick Vento kicked the winning extra point.

Vento singled in the go-ahead run in the ninth inning to give host Franklin Regional a 17-16 victory Wednesday against Class AAAA No. 2 Central Catholic.

The Section 3 rivals combined for 46 hits.

"I've never seen a game like this in my entire life. It was unbelievable," Franklin Regional coach Bob Sadler said.

Danny McGrath went 5 for 6 and scored four runs for Franklin Regional (13-3, 7-2). Vento had three hits and three RBIs.

P.J. DeMeo hit two home runs for Central Catholic (13-3, 8-1).
