Moon tops Montour again

Moon's recent dominance of Montour in girls soccer continued Wednesday.

Izzy Engel's goal with 14 seconds left in the first half snapped a tie and gave Class AA No. 5 Moon a 2-1 win at Montour in Section 5.

Moon (10-1, 7-1), the defending PIAA champion, has defeated Montour (5-4-1, 4-3-1) seven consecutive times.

Moon's Emma Thomas opened the scoring, before Montour's Jane Schleicher netted the equalizer.

Montour had its five-game winning streak snapped.

In its wins, Moon has outscored its opponents, 48-4.

Other top girls games

• Maggie Mastrogiacoma's first-half goal proved to be the difference for Penn-Trafford (8-3, 7-0) in a 2-1 win against visiting Kiski Area (3-5-1, 2-3) in Class AAA Section 1.

• Micayla Livingston scored her 10th goal this season to help Class AAA No. 1 Norwin (7-1-1) rebound from its first loss with a 4-1 non-section victory against visiting Upper St. Clair (5-4-1).

• Melina George scored with 15 minutes left and visiting Sewickley Academy (5-3-2, 5-1-2) took over possession of first in Class A Section 1 after a 1-0 win at Mohawk (5-5, 4-4).

• Elaina Smith's two goals allowed New Brighton (4-6-1, 4-4-1) to upset visiting Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (5-4, 5-2), 2-0, in Class A Section 1.

Top performer

• Ali Pastore scored midway through the first half for Elizabeth Forward (7-3-1) in a 1-0 non-section victory against visiting Yough (6-3).

Boys golf

• Max Waldron shot a 4-under 32 at Lindenwood Golf Club's Gold Course to help Canon-McMillan defeat South Fayette, 181-197, in Class AAA Section 7.

Girls golf

• Macky Fouse fired a 5-under 31 at Frosty Valley Golf Links in leading Central Valley to a 149-204 win against Seton-LaSalle in Class AA Section 2.
