Sto-Rox quarterback Lenny Williams became the WPIAL's all-time leader in touchdown passes Friday night in a 56-14 win against Union.
Williams threw his 87th, 88th and 89th career touchdown passes in the first half to break Christian Brumbaugh's record of 88. The record touchdown was a 5-yard pass to tight end Elisha Bonner.
But Brumbaugh, a South Fayette graduate, still owns the mark for career passing yards, at least for another week.
Williams needed 256 yards Friday to tie Brumbaugh's record of 7,162, but, for the second week in a row, he hardly needed to pass in a blowout.
He finished with 161 yards on an 8-of-14 night and scored on a 2-yard run. His other passing touchdowns went to Mallory Claybourne. Last week, Williams only threw for 168 yards in a 58-0 win against Northgate.
Williams can break Brumbaugh's passing record with 96 yards next Saturday at Western Beaver. Kickoff is at 12:30 p.m.
