Lenny Williams led a rout Friday night, but Christian Brumbaugh's passing records are safe for another week.
Williams threw for 168 yards and three touchdowns in a 58-0 Sto-Rox win against Northgate, setting himself up for a shot at passing Brumbaugh's career marks of 7,162 yards and 88 touchdowns next week.
Now with 6,906 career passing yards, Williams is 256 yards behind Brumbaugh and needs two passing touchdowns to tie his record of 88. Sto-Rox faces Union next week.
Williams would have needed 424 yards and five passing touchdowns Friday to tie the records. Brumbaugh graduated from South Fayette in 2011 and his younger brother, Brett, is the school's current quarterback.
Williams added a 10-yard rushing touchdown and a 25-yard fumble return touchdown to lead the rout. Sto-Rox, ranked No. 1 in Class A, led at halftime, 42-0, and improved to 5-0 on the season.
Williams threw two touchdowns to Mallory Claybourne (6 and 54 yards) and one to Amir Newning (36).
Claybourne returned the second-half kickoff 78 yards for a touchdown. Brendan Blair ran in from 6 yards and Ron Wilson ran in from 10.
Northgate fell to 1-4. The shutout was the second in a row and third of the year for the Sto-Rox defense.hsfootball
