Fort Cherry running back Koltan Kobrys ran for two touchdowns and caught three more to lead a 49-33 win Friday over No. 5 Monessen, which was new to the Class A rankings this week.

Monessen took the lead in the third quarter of a back-and-forth game, but Fort Cherry answered for 21 consecutive points to put the game out of reach.


Clairton 32, California 7

California scored the first points of the game (and the first of the year against No. 1 Clairton) but it was just a bump in the road for the Bears, who scored the next 32 points en route to their 66th-straight win.

Frazier 38, Bentworth 0

A 25-point second quarter helped Frazier improve to 2-1. Charles Manack threw for 231 yard on a 8-of-10 passing and Nicholas Smith ran eight times for 117 yards.

Carlynton 37, Bishop Canevin 12

Bishop Canevin cut the score to 20-12 in the third quarter but couldn't stop Isiah Canton, who ran for 190 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries.

Avonworth 42, Leechburg 7

The Antelopes improved to 3-0 (2-0 Eastern Conference) with 35 unanswered points in the second and third quarters. Moses Giles ran for three touchdowns.

Avella 41, Mapletown 6

A 248-yard, four touchdown passing performance from Santino Paris helped Avella improve to 3-0.

North Catholic 42, Northgate 6

Northgate answered North Catholic's early touchdown with an 80-yard score, but it was all No. 4 North Catholic the rest of the way. Jerome Turner and Adam Sharlow both went over 100 yards rushing for North Catholic.

Shenango 17, S. Side Beaver 6

170 total rushing yards helped Shenango pick up its first win of the year. South Side Beaver fell to 0-3 Beth-Center 28, Carmichaels 22

Two fourth-quarter touchdowns weren't enough for Carmichaels in a battle of 2-0 Tri-County South Conference teams.Anthony Welsh ran for three touchdowns for Beth-Center, which hadn't allowed a point all season.

Laurel 28 Our Lady of the Sacred Heat 7

Josh Dando threw two first-quarter touchdowns to Clayton Sharek to help Laurel improve to 2-1

Jefferson-Morgan 56, West Greene 0

Rece Henneman ran for three first-half touchdowns to lead Jefferson-Morgan to its second win. West Greene fell to 1-2.

Apollo-Ridge 27 Western Beaver 0

Ben Gemballa ran for two second-half touchdowns to secure a win for Apollo-Ridge, which improved to 2-1 with the win.

Windber 35, Brentwood 20

Brentwood fell to 1-2 in a nonconfernce loss. Connor McWilliams completed 16 of 31 passes for 223 yards for Brentwood.

Vincetian 65, Geibel Catholic 0

Pledging to fight on with a small team, Geibel was shut out for the third straight game.

Springdale 6, Wilkinsburg 0

Justin Wilson's first-quarter touchdown was the difference.

Chartiers-Houston 42 Serra Catholic 24

Chartiers-Houston had only scored nine points before Friday.

Union 33, Rochester 0

Big win for the Scotties improved them to 2-1, 1-1 in the Big Seven.
