Aleksi Yaramus threw two touchdown passes and ran for two to lead Moon to an impressive 56-23 win Friday night at Chartiers Valley in a Parkway Conference opener.
Yaramus completed 9 of 11 passes for 177 yards and connected with Emmanuel Torres on a 13-yard scoring pass, and with T.J. Dean on a 50-yard touchdown. He also scored on runs of 12 and 3 yards. Dean also scored on runs of 4 and 9 yards.
Offensive lineman Ryan Bush recovered a fumble in the end zone to score Chartiers Valley's first touchdown. The Colts also scored on an 85-yard kickoff return by Tanner Garris.
Thomas Jefferson 31, Ringgold 10
Austin Kemp rushed for 156 yards on 20 carries and scored on runs of 32 and 5 yards, as the top-ranked Jaguars rallied from a 10-7 deficit to defeat the host Rams in the Big Nine Conference. Chase Winovich scored the Jaguars' first touchdown on an 80-yard run, then connected with Dalton Dietrich on a 36-yard scoring pass later in the game. Nico Law threw for 108 yards and a touchdown to lead Ringgold.
Central Valley 29, New Castle 6
Jordan Whitehead and Jaquan Pennington each scored two touchdowns to lead the No. 3-ranked Warriors to a Parkway Conference victory against the visiting Hurricanes. Pennington rushed for 103 yards on 21 carries and scored on a 14-yard run. He also scored on a 15-yard pass from Nate Climo. Whitehead scored on runs of 40 and 2 yards.
West Mifflin 59, Laurel Highlands 0
James Wheeler rushed for 359 yards on 16 carries and scored on runs of 15 and 91 yards to lead the Titans to a Big Nine Conference shutout of the host Mustangs. Karlyn Garner threw three touchdowns for the Titans. He connected with Kevin Garbark on scoring passes of 55 and 45 yards, then with Javon Gibson on a 10-yard scoring pass. Garner was 3 of 4 for 110 yards.
Greensburg Salem 20, Knoch 14
The Golden Lions gave Dave Keefer a victory in his head-coaching debut. They jumped to a 20-0 lead with three first-half touchdowns -- a 20-yard pass from Adam Indof to Simeon Stevens, a 17-yard run by Dom McKinley and a 32-yard run by Ryan Zepeda. Knoch's Daniel Farinelli completed 7 of 27 passes for 102 yards and two touchdowns.
Elizabeth Forward 46, Trinity 0
Matt Bernadowski scored four touchdowns and three teammates rushed for 100 or more yards, as the Warriors opened their Big Nine Conference schedule with a shutout of the Hillers. Ryan Wardropper rushed for 126 yards, Jaquan Davidson had 105 yards and Jalen French 100 yards. Bernadowski scored on runs of 5 and 11 yards, returned a punt 95 yards for a score, and caught a 25-yard scoring pass from Davidson.
West Allegheny 40, Blackhawk 13
Tory Delmonico rushed for 117 yards and scored on a 7-yard run to lead the Indians to a Parkway Conference victory against the Cougars. Delmonico also scored on a 24-yard pass from Andrew Koester.
Indiana 33, Hampton 7
Sean Thompson connected with Riley Stapleton on touchdown passes of 4 and 61 yards as the Little Indians rolled to a Greater Allegheny Conference victory at Hampton. Thompson completed 8 of 13 passes for 142 yards. Hampton's Nick Grabowski completed 10 of 24 passes for 153 yards and a touchdown.
Highlands 33, Hollidaysburg 14
Blake Leri threw for 146 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Golden Rams to a Greater Allegheny Conference victory against the visiting Golden Tigers. He connected with Elijah Jackson and Deion Fletcher on scoring passes of 83 and 36 yards. Jackson also scored on a 9-yard run and rushed for 183 yards on 20 carries.
Montour 20, Hopewell 14
Cole Macek ran for two touchdowns and threw for another as the Spartans rallied from a 14-0 halftime deficit to defeat the Vikings in a Parkway Conference opener. Macek scored on runs of 8 and 1 yards, then connected with Donald Payne on a 42-yard touchdown pass. Macek rushed for 101 yards on 19 carries. Hopewell's Tyler Ishman rushed for 141 yards and scored on runs of 15 and 59 yards.
Albert Gallatin 52, Derry 0
The Colonials ended an 18-game losing streak with this impressive Greater Allegheny Conference victory against the Trojans. Brandon Dice scored three touchdowns for the Colonials on runs of 45 and 65 yards, and on a 55-yard fumble recovery. Chris Hlatky and Collin Smith also scored twice for the Colonials.
Belle Vernon 48, Uniontown 20
The Leopards had no trouble with the visiting Red Raiders in this Big Nine Conference opener.
