WPIAL Class AAA Roundup: Montour stuffs Keystone Oaks in 33-0 non-conference win

Bryan Stefanik scored on an 18-yard run in the fourth quarter last night, lifting Blackhawk to a 21-14 victory against New Castle in a Parkway Conference game at New Castle's Taggart Stadium.

It was a big game for Blackhawk, ranked No. 3 by the Post-Gazette, which upped its record to 5-1 overall, 3-0 in the conference. Stefanik rushed for 117 yards on 18 carries. Zach Hayward completed 7 of 11 passes for 103 yards.

New Castle (4-2, 2-2) scored on a 5-yard run by Mike Bongivengo and a 6-yard run by T.J. McCaster.

Montour 33, Keystone Oaks 0

Christian Wilson rushed for 164 yards and scored four touchdowns to lead No. 2-ranked Montour to victory against Keystone Oaks (3-3) in a non-conference game at Montour. Wilson carried the ball 24 times and scored on runs of 4, 2, 6, and 24 yards, all four coming in the first half, as the Spartans (6-0) remained unbeaten. Wilson has 1,010 yards for the season. Keystone Oaks (3-3) has scored 2 points in its past two games. Golden Eagles tailback John Fuhrer was held to 14 yards on 9 carries. Fuhrer needs 237 yards to reach 4,000 career yards.

Knoch 31, Franklin Regional 0

The No. 4-ranked Knights (5-1, 4-0) recorded their first victory over the Panthers (3-3, 1-2) since 1987 and remained unbeaten atop the Greater Allegheny Conference. Tim McNerney led the way for Knoch by rushing for 199 yards on 26 carries and scored three touchdowns on runs of 9, 4, and 54 yards.

Arthur James and Orlando Torres each scored two touchdowns to lead the top-ranked Jaguars (6-0, 3-0) to a convincing Big Seven Conference victory against the Indians (2-4, 1-3). James rushed for 118 yards on 17 carries and scored on runs of 13 and 14 yards. Torres scored on runs of 8 and 26 yards.

Chartiers Valley 35, West Mifflin 6

Justin Burda ran for two touchdowns and threw for two more to lead the Colts (5-1, 3-0) to a Big Seven Conference win over West Mifflin (2-4, 1-3). Burda completed 7 of 15 passes for 173 yards and connected with Cory O'Patchen on touchdown passes of 52 and 72 yards.

Trinity 47, Elizabeth Forward 6

Mike Yancich rushed for 200 yards on 26 carries and scored on runs of 36, 36, 6 and 16 yards, as the Hillers (4-2, 2-1) rolled to an easy road victory against the Warriors (0-6, 0-4) in the Big Seven Conference. Trinity also scored on a 34-yard interception return by Brandon Weaver, an 8-yard pass from Andrew Steratore to Graham Cowleson, and an 80-yard run by Andrew Sweat.

Indiana 43, Hampton 0

Ben Fiscus threw two touchdown passes and rushed for 141 yards on nine carries, as Indiana (4-2, 2-2) recorded a shutout of Hampton (1-5, 0-3) in the Greater Allegheny Conference.

Ambridge 49, Moon 19

Travis Anderson rushed for 154 yards on 22 carries and scored on runs of 7, 13, 4, 30 and 11 yards as Ambridge (3-3, 1-3) recorded its first Parkway Conference win. Moon (0-6, 0-3) has given up 221 points in six games.

Mount Pleasant 34, Laurel Highlands 3

The Vikings (4-2, 3-0) took sole possession of first place in the Keystone Conference with this road victory against the Mustangs (1-5, 1-3).

Ringgold 44, Uniontown 36

Jordan Fowler threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more, as the Rams (3-3, 3-1) recorded their third consecutive victory, while Uniontown (2-4, 2-1) suffered its first conference loss. Fowler connected with Dave Bassi and R.J. Brownlee on touchdown passes of 52 and 57 yards.

Belle Vernon 42, Albert Gallatin 0

Shane Curran and Jon Krepps each scored two touchdowns to lead the visiting Leopards (2-4 2-1) to an easy Keystone Conference victory over Albert Gallatin (1-5, 1-3). Curran rushed for 142 yards on 11 carries.

Greensburg Salem 26, Derry 22

The longest current losing streak in the WPIAL continues, as the Trojans (0-6) suffered their 20th consecutive loss. The Golden Lions (2-4) scored the winning touchdown on an 18-yard run by Matt Adams in the fourth quarter. Adams rushed for 212 yards on 18 carries.
