Sto-Rox has hired a former Pitt staffer to lead its boys' varsity basketball team.

Jordan Marks, a Shady Side Academy graduate who most recently served as Pitt basketball's video coordinator, will take over the WPIAL Class AA program, Sto-Rox athletic director Howard Bullard said.

Bullard said Marks' hiring -- as well as his own -- was approved at a school board meeting Thursday.

Marks graduated from Pitt in 2008 and was a four-year student manager for the basketball team. He served as the director of men's basketball operations at Robert Morris in 2008-09 before returning to Pitt and was the Panthers' video coordinator for the last four years.

"Especially working under [Pitt coach Jamie] Dixon, he certainly learned structure and how to run a practice and offenses and defenses," Bullard said. "So I'm very confident that he will be well-prepared."

Former Sto-Rox basketball coach Bill Minear stepped down in June. He had coached the team from 1996-2004 and 2010-13 and also served as athletic director.

Bullard is retired as Allderdice High School basketball coach.
