Research Projects
Study on how to prevent depression among grieving senior citizens. Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic at UPMC Health System is holding a study to determine if recently widowed seniors can avoid becoming depressed by receiving counseling that helps them maintain good sleeping habits and a regular and active daily schedule.
Researchers are seeking men or women over 65 who lost their spouses within the past three months. Volunteers will receive a physical exam, two 36-hour sleep evaluations and six months of individual sessions to help increase daily activities and regulate sleep.
