Women who want to get into shape may be interested in Magee-Womens Hospital's Bodychangers program. A new session is starting Jan. 24.
Bodychangers is a social support system to promote healthy lifestyles, chiefly through diet and exercise, said Jeffrey Gusenoff, co-director of UPMC's Life After Weight Loss program. Designed originally for bariatric surgery patients, Bodychangers offers three levels of membership to the general public.
Participants can attend education seminars and get the newsletter for free.
Gold membership ($25 a month), includes exercise sessions led by a personal trainer from the Urban Active health club, cooking and nutrition classes, and enrollment in a behavioral support group.
Platinum membership ($50 a month) includes those benefits, plus a 30-minute personalized session each month with a registered dietitian, and, once every three months, a facial at the UPMC Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Center, 3380 Blvd. of the Allies, Oakland.
