TODAY

CHARLEROI -- The community will hold a memorial service and "Rally for America" at 7:30 p.m. The program will begin at the Magic Square Stage, Fifth Street and McKean Avenue, and include a candlelight procession to Charleroi High School stadium. Charleroi firefighters will collect donations for relief efforts.

CARNEGIE -- The Christian community of Carnegie will sponsor a prayer and praise service at 7 p.m. in the Full Gospel Church, Campbells Run Road.

McKEESPORT -- UPMC McKeesport is inviting the community to "Honor the Red, White and Blue" at 7 p.m. in the D-Level Mansfield Parking Lot. The program will include patriotic music and messages, a candlelight ceremony, and the illumination of a 67-by-40-foot flag. Parking will be provided free in the hospital garage. TOMORROW

PLUM -- The Girls' Leadership Association of Plum Senior High School will hold a blood drive in honor of the attack victims from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the high school, 900 Elicker Road.

DOWNTOWN -- The Rivers Club Pub at One Oxford Centre will sponsor a happy hour fund-raiser from 5:30 to 8 p.m. There is no cover charge and a percentage from each drink sold will go to the American Red Cross relief fund. Guest bartenders will be from the Downtown accounting firm of Sisterson & Co. Business attire or business casual attire is required. For information, call Anne Butera at 412-391-5227, Ext. 254.

BUTLER -- Ghost Riders, a country-western BYOB establishment at 1805 N. Main St., will donate all proceeds from the door to disaster relief. For more information, call 724-283-4401.

SATURDAY

DUQUESNE UNIVERSITY -- Half of the gate receipts from today's football game against the University of Dayton will be donated to the United Way Sept. 11 th Fund. Also, the athletic department and Duquesne athletes are selling T-shirts at the Palumbo Center and at the game; all proceeds will benefit the fund. Tickets for the game are $10 and may be purchased in advance by calling 412-232-DUKE.

DORMONT -- Several local music groups will host a benefit concert at Moonstones, 1517 Potomac Ave., Dormont, starting at 8 p.m. The concert, "Soul Grooves -- A Time of Healing," will feature the groups !Roughly Speaking!, Cary Child and Will Stuart. There will be a suggested $5 donation at the door, with proceeds going to the American Red Cross.

McKEES ROCKS -- A pro wrestling show hosted by Bubba from B94 FM radio will benefit the United Way Sept. 11th Fund. The show, "I.W.C.: Red, White and Blue," will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Emerald Room, 501 Chartiers Ave., and will feature nine matches with national and Western Pennsylvania wrestlers. VERONA -- The Verona Volunteer Fire Department will be collecting donations for New York firefighter, police and emergency personnel from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the intersection of Allegheny River Boulevard and Center Avenue. Donations for this cause can also be sent to the Verona Fire Hall.

SUNDAY

UPTOWN -- Duquesne University's City Music Center will hold a benefit concert at 7 p.m. in the PNC Recital Hall in the Mary Pappert School of Music. Faculty and students will perform to raise funds for the children of firefighters and police officers lost in the World Trade Center disaster. Donations will be accepted at the door. TUESDAY

MOUNT WASHINGTON -- LeMont staff will donate salaries and tips and the restaurant will match them for all business conducted on this day. The donations will go to help families of victims and employees at World Trade Center restaurants in New York. The Pittsburgh Hotel Employee/Restaurant Employee Local 57 also will provide funds as part of the effort.

OCT. 5

PENN HILLS -- The Penn Hills High School Football Boosters will sell patriotic T-shirts at their game and will donate half of the 50/50 rally to New York firefighters' relief funds.

OCT. 6

BETHEL PARK -- Two local women are organizing a fund drive that will seek donations for relief efforts to benefit children who lost parents in the Sept. 11 tragedy. Children in the community are being urged to set up lemonade stands, car washes, garage sales or collect donations from family, friends and neighbors. A drive will be held on this day throughout the borough, with volunteers staffing collection tables at various businesses. All proceeds will be deposited in the "Children From Children Relief Fund" that has been established at Brentwood Bank. Donations can be made directly to the fund by mailing checks to: Brentwood Bank, 401 McMurray Road, Bethel Park 15102. For information or to volunteer, call Pam Morocco at 412-835-0735.

DOWNTOWN -- Pittsburgh's Irish community will support disaster relief efforts with a benefit concert in the Westin Convention Center Hotel on Penn Avenue starting at 6 p.m. The event, featuring several local Irish bands, will benefit the families of the New York City firefighters, police and EMS personnel lost in the World Trade Center tragedy. Suggested donation for tickets is $20. There will be a cash bar.

OCT. 11

REGION -- A group of local brewpubs and craft breweries will donate proceeds from beer sales on Oct. 11 to the United Way Sept. 11 th Fund. The idea began with the staff at the Church Brew Works in Lawrenceville, but has since expanded to include Foundry Ale Works in the Strip District, Penn Brewery on the North Side, Valhalla in the Strip, Red Star Brewery and Grille in Greensburg, plus 10 other brewers in the state, as well as West Virginia Brewing in Morgantown. NORTH PARK -- Prudential Preferred Realty is sponsoring an Oldies Benefit Dance for the Prudential CARES Disaster Relief Fund at 7 p.m. at the Lodge in North Park, featuring live entertainment by Sputzy and the Soul Providers. Tickets are on sale for $25 at all Prudential Preferred Realty branch offices or by calling (800) 860-SOLD. The ticket price includes dinner and beverages. Prudential is also matching all employee contributions raised at the event.

OCT. 13

BEAVER FALLS -- Businessman Stan Sudar has organized a golf outing at the Fox Run Golf Course to benefit the Salvation Army's disaster relief efforts. Cost will be $65 for an individual player and $260 for a foursome. The tournament will offer a meal, a door prize and other prizes. Registration will be at 7:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The event is being supported by Eat 'n Park, Bert's Wooden Indian and Dick's Sporting Goods. ONGOING

HERMITAGE -- The people of Hermitage invite the public to Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery on State Street in Mercer County, where, among 444 American flags at half-staff, they may reflect and express their grief over the terrorist attacks. People may bring candles, flowers and pictures of loved ones. A flag was put up each day at the cemetery between Nov. 4, 1979, and Jan. 20, 1981, when Americans were being held hostage in Iran.

ROSS PARK MALL -- For a $1 donation to the American Red Cross, customers will receive a personalized flag pin-up, an American flag decorative pin or an American support ribbon. Donations are being accepted at the Simon Marketplace on the lower level near the Mellon Bank mall entrance. All donations will be used for relief purposes.
