Macky Fouse is up to her old tricks again.
A senior at Central Valley High School, she shot a 70 on the 18-hole, Tri-State Section, PGA of America Kings Junior Series event on June 18 at Seven Oaks Country Club in Beaver County to win the 16-18 year-old girls division title, besting a field that included Jocelyn Sudar, a former Warriors teammate who recently graduated.
"Seven Oaks is one of my home courses, along with [The Club at] Shadow Lakes, so I know the course pretty well," Fouse said. "The greens are usually pretty fast, but I was able to putt very well."
The tournament at Seven Oaks was just one of many Fouse has on her summer schedule.
She placed 13th at the American Junior Golf Association Preseason Junior tournament at Memacolin Woodlands in Farmington, Fayette County at the beginning of June, shooting a two-day total of 164.
Last week, Fouse competed in the Pennsylvania Junior Championships at Hershey Country Club, finishing third.
Next up was a trip to State College this week to play in at PGA Junior Series event at Penn State University that began Wednesday and will continue through Friday.
"I'm really excited to get out there and compete in these events," Fouse said.
In 2011, Fouse finished third in the WPIAL and 16th in the state while helping Central Valley win a WPIAL Division II team championship.
Last season as a junior, Fouse helped lead Central Valley to its first state championship in school history. Individually, Fouse finished second in the WPIAL Division II tournament last season and took third in the state.
Fouse said the main thing she has worked on this offseason is the consistency of her drives, which she hopes will translate into even better results this upcoming season.
"I definitely want us to repeat as team champs," Fouse said. "Individually, I tied for third last season, so I think winning would be pretty awesome."
Her success on the course has been noticed at the college level. She has already visited Seton Hall University in New Jersey and Winthrop University in South Carolina. She is also considering Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina, as well as Bowling Green University and Xavier University, both in Ohio.
She hasn't come to a decision yet where she will attend, but is hoping to make a final call by the start of her senior season.
"That's kind of the plan, but it might not work out that way," Fouse said. "I'm taking it slowly, but it definitely would take the pressure off my senior year. We'll just have to see what happens."
In the meantime, she plans to continue to work on improving her game with a very active summer schedule.
Macky Fouse, who will be a senior at Central Valley this school year, has been extremely active this summer working to improve her golf game. She recently won a Kings Junior Tournament at Seven Oaks Country Club.
