Two Flower Tents have opened in the area. These seasonal garden shops will sell plants through Easter, March 31. Easter flowers such as, mums, tulips, hyacinths and kalanchoe will be available.
After the holiday, the tents close until May 1 when they open again for spring planting. Potted and bedding flowers, hanging baskets, small trees, vegetables, and herbs will be sold.

The Daffodil & Hosta Society of Western Pennsylvania will host its free annual daffodil show from 1 to 5 p.m. April 6 at Soergel Orchards Farm Market, Franklin Park.
Entries are open to nonmembers as long as the daffodil has been grown by the entrant and they know the name of the cultivar. A new design category will include floral arrangements that use at least two daffodils. Daffodils for this category need not be grown by the entrant. Winners of this section only will be determined by popular vote. Entries will be accepted from 6 to 10 p.m. April 5 and from 6:30 to 10 a.m. the day of the show. Judging begins at 10:45 a.m.
Members will be on hand to answer cultural questions and help to identify cultivars.
The Pittsburgh Rose Society will hold pruning demonstrations at Renziehausen Park Arboretum in McKeesport at 1 p.m. April 6 and 13. Rosarians will conduct hands-on pruning demonstrations as well as answer questions about planting, fertilizing and disease control. Participants must bring their own pruning tools, gloves and knee pads. The event is free and will go on rain or shine.
Jimmy Lohr and Jonathan Weber called their sustainable florist/garden business GreenSinner " 'cause it's easier being a green sinner than a green saint." Their shop is at 5232 Butler St., Lawrenceville, but they grow in gardens and a greenhouse in upper Lawrenceville. The are offering these classes:
• 7 p.m. April 1 and 2 at Phipps Garden Center, Shadyside.
• 6 p.m. April 22 (Earth Day) at Marty's Market, Strip District.
• 3 p.m. April 30 at Marty's Market.
