Michael A. Fuoco, 56, holds a bachelor's degree from John Carroll University, and a master's degree from Penn State University, and is a fellow of the Knight Center for Specialized Journalism at the University of Maryland.
Since joining the Post-Gazette in 1983, he has written breaking news, investigative pieces, enterprise stories and features; for more than a decade he was the Pittsburgh Police beat reporter. He has received numerous local, state and national awards for his writing.
He and his wife, Linda Wilson Fuoco, also a Post-Gazette reporter, live in Mt. Lebanon with their son, Dante.
Steve Mellon, 48, has been a Post-Gazette staff photographer since August 1997. A native of Jeffersonville, Ind., he came to Pittsburgh in 1989 to work as a photographer at The Pittsburgh Press.
In 1992, while at The Press, he was runner-up in the National Photographer of the Year competition, sponsored by the National Press Photographers Association and the University of Missouri. He has won numerous local and national awards for photojournalism.
He lives with his wife, Brenda, and daughters, Chloe, Brooke and Jessie in Emsworth.
