Local veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan and their families can obtain information about medical treatment and other services at a two-day conference that begins today.
Representatives from more than 20 service providers will be available each day of the conference, held at the Soldiers & Sailors National Military Museum & Memorial, 4141 Fifth Ave., Oakland.
"It is essential that we help our returning veterans readjust to life at home," said Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato, who will open the conference.
Seminars today are aimed at medical and human services professionals, while those tomorrow are for returning veterans and their families. On both days, registration for the seminars begins at 8 a.m.
"Support for Returning Veterans: A Community Effort" is free to veterans, their family members, professionals and the public. More information is available at the conference Web site, www.alleghenycounty.us/dhs/veterans.
