All the political sparring getting to you? This event might sweeten up your attitude a bit.
"The Desserts of Shadyside," a fundraiser for Shadyside Dems, the City of Pittsburgh's Seventh Ward Democratic Committee, will feature desserts from local restaurants, pastry chefs and foodies at 6:30 tonight at the home of Scott Cavanaugh and Ron Graham, 6101 Fifth Ave.
Dessert donors include Brasserie 33, Cafe Zinho, Girasole, Elbow Room, La Feria, Mercurio's Gelato and Pizzeria, Prantl's Bakery, and one simply known as the Anonymous Obama Cookie Baker.
Cost is $50 for most, with Shadyside residents paying $25 if they present current voter registration and "GOP-ordered ID," a news release noted. Proceeds will benefit the organization's effort to boost voting on Nov. 6.
All those in attendance will be able to vote for five different desserts, but those paying extra will receive additional secret ballots.
"Stuffing of the ballot box will be strongly encouraged," promoters quipped.
