If you want to try an easier recipe that also involves caramel, try this delicious caramel popcorn. Careful, though, as this caramel syrup is also very hot.
8 quarts of popped popcorn
2 cups brown sugar
2 sticks of margarine or butter
1/2 cup white corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon butter flavoring (if using margarine)
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Pop popcorn in an air popper if possible. Cook the brown sugar, margarine and corn syrup over medium heat until melted. After it's melted, add the butter flavoring and baking soda. Pour over popped corn. Put on cookie sheets or large roaster. Bake one hour, stirring several times while baking. Makes 8 quarts.
You can add any kind of nuts, too.
