The Post-Gazette reviews movies from a family perspective:
'World War Z'
Suitable for: Teens and older.
What you should know: Brad Pitt stars as a former United Nations investigator who is pressed back into service to try to save his wife and two young daughters, along with the world, when a zombie pandemic strikes. As you might expect, it's pretty intense.
Language: Roughly four uses of profanity and a half-dozen or so milder four-letter words.
Sexual situations and nudity: Nothing beyond a few kisses between husband and wife.
Violence/scary situations: Pretty much from beginning to end, including scenes of children in jeopardy. Hordes of zombies race after, attack and kill people. There are car crashes and explosions, a spectacular airplane crash and bloody injuries, including the loss of a hand and a metal shard through an abdomen. References are made to the U.S. president being dead and widespread loss of life.
Alcohol and drug use: Adults are handed bottles of beer.
