Mister Roger's Neighborhood Sweater Drive

Help warm up the winter for area families by dropping off gently used adult- and child-sized sweaters in the Children's Museum's lobby during regular Museum open hours.

"Mister Rogers Neighbrohood" (1968-2001) was a children's show produced in Pittsburgh starring Fred Rogers (1928-2003). The museum has a permanent exhibit based on the series.

PPG Gingerbread House & Train Display

Running concurrently with the "Spirits Of Giving" exhibit in the Wintergarden (as well as the windows in Two PPG Place) is this magnificent display of delicious dwellings created by area students, chefs, organizations, and individuals. The houses are also surrounded by a variety of model trains from the collection of local artist Don Jones.

All houses are available to purchase with proceeds benefiting Children’s Hospital’s Free Care Fund. For more information, call (412) 434-1928.

Beaver County Festival Of Trees

The Beaver County Festival Of Trees is held in doors at the Lodge in Brady's Run Park. The Lodge has been magically transformed into a snow-laden, Winter Wonderland with its 50 beautifully and uniquely decorated artificial trees and wreaths. In addition, there are trains, Candy Cane Lane Gift Shop, loaded with affordable gifts and trinkets, snack bar, Children's Craft Corner, baskets and raffles, and of course, the jolly old man himself, Santa.

This year's theme is "Christmases Of Years Gone By".

The program culminates with an auction of the displays on December 9. Proceeds benefit Beaver County Children & Youth Services which uses the funds to purchase back to school shoes, winter coats, summer camp outings and eyeglasses for kids in need. Thanksgiving Dinner

Everyone is welcome and each is treated to good fellowship and a terrific Thanksgiving dinner --- for free.

A church tradition for 27 years, some who attend are homeless, some are struggling financially and some have no close family with whom to spend the holiday. This is all made possible by folks who donate roasted turkeys, turkey breasts, stuffing and pies, by folks who volunteer to help set-up, cook, serve, deliver meals and clean-up.

Black Out

Hosted by local actor/artist Aki Durham, this night of music and fellowship brings together the region's African American community for a night of great music, food, fun, unity/networking, dancing and plenty of libation.

The evening's highlights include clips of classic black exploitation films and groundbreaking black music videos from 80’s icons while Corey “DJ Karazmatik” Mizell spins, scratches and mixes the hottest hits of now and then. There will also be live performances by local hip-hop, funk and rap groups.
