11/6/2009 through 11/8/2009

See vintage Maurice Sendak characters come to life in this short, re-imagined one act family opera by Hans Krasa and sung in English.

Born in 1928, Maurice Sendak is an American writer and illustrator of children's literature who is best known for his 1963 book "Where The Wild Things Are". Hans Krasa (1899-1944) was a Bohemian composer who perished in the Holocaust.

This fabulously designed and fully-staged production is about two children who are determined to get milk for their sick mother. With the help of townspeople and animal friends, they stand up to the town bully and prevail. "Brundibar" was originally performed by the children of Theresienstadt concentration camp in occupied Czechoslovakia.

Presented by the Opera Theatre Of Pittsburgh. For show times and tickets, call (412) 456-6666.
