The online Web entertainment site My Damn Channel will launch a new live comedy program -- "My Damn Channel LIVE" -- on its YouTube channel. It will be the first live daily comedy show on YouTube's original channel lineup.
Comedian and writer Beth Hoyt will host the series. It's billed as an online version of late-night TV, with celebrity guest interviews and previews of the new My Damn Channel video series.
"My Damn Channel LIVE" premieres Wednesday and will air at 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Programs will be available on demand on both YouTube and the My Damn Channel website.
A new My Damn Channel show -- "You Rock at Photoshop!" -- will debut during the Wednesday premiere.
Billboard, Nielsen and DigitalMusic.org have launched a new "On-Demand Songs" chart, which will appear with Billboard's other weekly music charts.
The new chart will be based on requests and plays from online radio streaming music subscription services such as MOG, Muve Music, Rdio, Rhapsody, Slacker and Spotify. Zune and Sony Music Unlimited soon will be added.
As use of subscription services like these grows, listenership for individual songs now has a significant impact on determining a song's chart ranking.
Figures from the "On-Demand Songs" chart will be factored into the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
Facebook continues to be the online destination where social media users spend the most time, according to Pew Research Center's Project for Excellence in Journalism's 2012 State of the Media survey.
In December 2011, people spent an average of 423 minutes a month on Facebook, according to comScore measurement figures.
Facebook was followed by photo sharing site Tumblr (151 minutes/month), newcomer Pinterest (80 minutes/month), Twitter (25 minutes/month), LinkedIn (15 minutes/month), MySpace (13 minutes/month) and Google+ (five minutes/month).
