The Republican National Committee wants NBC and CNN to cancel upcoming programs on Hillary Rodham Clinton and is threatening to blackball the networks from future Republican presidential debates if they fail to comply. The Associated Press reports.
RNC chairman Reince Priebus calls the programs political ads "masquerading" as unbiased productions. He vows not to partner with the networks on GOP debates if they don't pull the programs.
Clinton has not yet said whether she'll run for president again in 2016.
CNN Films is planning a feature-length film on the former first lady and secretary of state for next year.
NBC has announced a miniseries, "Hillary," starring Diane Lane. It is expected to be released before the 2016 presidential election.
NBC Entertainment declined comment on the RNC request. CNN did not immediately comment.
Lindsay Lohan is on the hot seat.
In a clip for an upcoming interview with Lohan, Oprah Winfrey frankly asks "The Canyons" star, 27, if she is an addict, People reports. The clip does not reveal her answer, but viewers get a taste of it from the follow-up question:
"What does it feel like to be both an adjective and a verb for child star gone wrong?"
The teaser suggests that Winfrey won't be letting Lohan off easily, but the actress seems to be hardy enough to follow up with an eight-part series about her life and recovery that will also air on Winfrey's network, OWN, in 2014.
Just a few days after completing three months in rehab at the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, Calif., Lohan appeared as a guest host on "Chelsea Lately," joking that she'd "been on a 90-day court ordered vacation."
The "Oprah's Next Chapter" episode featuring Lohan will air Aug. 18.
Over on NBC's "Today" show Monday, Winfrey was asked about the Travyon Martin case, giving some of her first public remarks regarding George Zimmerman being acquitted of all charges in the shooting death of the 17-year-old, reports E! News.
"It's so easy during this time -- Trayvon Martin, Trayvon Martin parallel to Emmett Till, let me just tell you. In my mind, same thing," she said. "But you can get stuck in that and not allow yourself to move forward and to see how far we've come."
NBC says Ryan Seacrest will host "The Million Second Quiz," a new live game show the network hopes will become event programming for two weeks in September, the AP reports.
The network said Monday it is constructing a giant hourglass-shaped structure in Manhattan for the game, which will involve contestants testing their trivia skills over a million seconds, or 11 days, 13 hours, 46 minutes and 40 seconds. A contestant leading the game earns $10 per second for sitting in the "money chair," with a potential payoff of millions of dollars.
The show will air for six straight nights starting Sept. 9, then return for four nights starting Sept. 16.
50 Cent has pleaded not guilty to domestic violence charges, E! News confirms.
The "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" MC entered the plea in person during an arraignment Monday in Van Nuys Superior Court stemming from allegations he allegedly attacked his ex-girlfriend at her Toluca Lake, Calif., condo June 23.
An L.A. judge also handed 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, a protective order barring him from coming within 100 yards of the model. The 37-year-old hip-hopster was also ordered not to have any contact with her and must turn over to authorities any weapons in his possession or sell them to a federally licensed firearms dealer.
According to LAPD, 50 Cent and the alleged victim got into a nasty spat that escalated when Fiddy kicked down a bedroom door where she had locked herself inside and then kicked her, causing an unspecified injury.
He then allegedly went on a tear throughout the residence, destroying $7,000 worth of property including furniture, chandeliers, a TV set and table lamp along with ransacking a bedroom closet.
By the time cops showed up, 50 Cent had already left the premises. He was subsequently charged by the L.A. City Attorney's Office with misdemeanor domestic violence along with four counts of vandalism.
If convicted, the rapper-actor could face up to five years in jail and $46,000 in fines.
A rep for 50 Cent was unavailable for comment but previously denied the allegations on his behalf, noting Jackson was never arrested nor was there a warrant for his arrest.
And shortly after his court appearance Monday, the hit-maker may have perhaps alluded to his legal troubles when he posted a picture to Instagram of a pair of sneakers with the caption, "Step into my shoes and walk the life I'm living and if you get as far as I am, just maybe you will see how strong I really am."
No doubt, he'll need to gather his strength for the next court date, which he'll be required to attend Sept. 4.
Justin Bieber might need to put a leash on his posse.
Police in Southampton, N.Y., confirm to E! News that members of the 19-year-old singer's entourage are being investigated for an alleged beatdown that occurred at approximately 4 a.m. Sunday outside the South Pointe nightclub.
Authorities were not called to the scene but a police spokesperson says the unidentified male victim went to the Peconic Bay Medical Center at noon on Sunday and later filed a complaint alleging assault.
In footage obtained by E! News, Bieber, wearing a black T-shirt and red backward cap, is seen in the parking lot by his crew's SUV when the purported altercation broke out between the clubgoer and the crooner's bodyguards, but Bieber was not involved and is not considered a suspect.
Despite his penchant for getting turned away from various hot spots due to the fact he's underage, the footage also showed Bieber managing to gain entrance to the club where he was photographed in the VIP section watching a string of scantily clad beauties on the dance floor.
According to the New York Daily News, a female clubgoer subsequently tried to chat Justin up, and when her male companion confronted Bieber, that's when things got heated.
A source told the paper that Justin "ripped his shirt off and went nuts ... [and] was screaming."
At that point, Bieber's security team moved in and escorted him out to South Pointe's parking lot, where the alleged scuffle occurred.
Reps for the teen heartthrob and the club have yet to comment on the fracas.
