Lil Wayne is not only making rap history, he's making rock 'n roll history: the rapper has surpassed Elvis Presley as the male with the most entries on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, The Associated Press reports.
Lil Wayne now has 109 songs on that chart with Thursday's debut of Game's song "Celebration," where he is a guest alongside Chris Brown, Tyga and Wiz Khalifa. Of his 109 charted songs, only 42 are led by Lil Wayne; 67 are songs where he is the featured act.
Thursday was the rapper's 30th birthday.
Presley totaled 108 songs on the Hot 100 since it launched in 1958. Presley's career kicked off before that and several of his songs -- such as "Heartbreak Hotel" -- could not be included in his total number.
The "Glee" cast has the most Hot 100 entries with 204.
Reese Witherspoon is a mom for the third time.
The actress gave birth to a son, Tennessee James Toth, on Thursday, her rep tells People.
"Reese Witherspoon and husband Jim Toth welcomed Tennessee James into their family today," the rep says. "Both mom and baby are healthy, and the entire family is thrilled."
The baby is Witherspoon's first child with her husband, whom she married in March 2011. She is already mom to Ava, 13, and Deacon, 8 1/2, from her prior marriage.
In March, a source told People that the actress, 36, was eager to have another child. "Right after the wedding, Reese expressed a desire to have a baby with Jim," said the source. "Reese has been very open with her kids about her plans to expand the family."
Witherspoon, who initially kept her pregnancy under wraps, subsequently showed off her baby bump all around the world over the spring and summer -- from appearances at the Cannes Film Festival to lunches and errands at home in Los Angeles. "Frankly, I'm feeling very round," she told reporters in June.
n"Sons of Anarchy" actor Johnny Lewis fell to his death from a building in Los Angeles -- moments after he allegedly beat his landlady, an 81-year-old woman, to death, People reports.
Lewis, 28, who played Kip "Half-Sack" Epps on the FX show and who once dated Katy Perry, was found lying in a driveway in the Los Feliz neighborhood near Hollywood on Wednesday, while a woman identified as Catherine Davis was found dead of apparently blunt force trauma inside the building.
"It's a terrible tragedy as far as we're concerned and we're digging into the bottom of it," LAPD spokesman Andrew Smith tells People.
Officers responding to a 911 call of a woman screaming were told that Lewis had fought with two men -- it wasn't clear if this was before or after the landlady was killed -- and that Lewis died after a fall, possibly from a wall or balcony, according to police.
Detectives have concluded that Lewis killed Davis, and they are not looking for any other suspects, says Smith. There was no immediate indication of what the motive for the murder was.
We always knew SAMCRO was a tight-lipped crew, and it seems the "Sons of Anarchy" stars are in real-life, too, E! News reports.
While details pour in about the shocking death of "SOA" actor Johnny Lewis the show's main stars are staying mum on the matter. (Reps for Charlie Hunnam, Ron Perlman and Katey Segal say they have no comment.) But a show insider hints that most of the "SOA" actors had heard of Lewis' troubles prior to his death.
Reports are surfacing that Lewis may have been on "smiles" (a synthetic, designer drug) when he either jumped or fell to his death. Lewis had been in and out of jail and rehabilitation programs for the past six months. Lewis pleaded no contest to assault with a deadly weapon and attempted burglary in separate cases this year, according to records, the AP reports.
He enrolled in a drug, alcohol and psychiatric treatment program over the summer, the records show.
Thursday morning, "Sons of Anarchy" boss Kurt Sutter released this online statement about Lewis: "It was a tragic end for an extremely talented guy, who unfortunately had lost his way. i wish i could say that i was shocked by the events [Wednesday] night, but i was not. i am deeply sorry that an innocent life had to be thrown into his destructive path. yes, it's day of mourning, but it's also a day of awareness and gratitude. sadly, some of us carry the message by dying."
Rock music veteran Patti Smith will be honored by Bryn Mawr College for her artistic accomplishments and pioneering spirit, the AP reports.
The women's liberal arts school near Philadelphia announced that Smith will receive the 2013 Katharine Hepburn Medal.
The college on Wednesday called Smith "a trailblazer in the male-dominated world of rock 'n' roll." She also wrote a critically acclaimed memoir in 2010.
Bryn Mawr will award the Hepburn Medal to Smith at a campus event on Feb. 7. A performance for students is being planned.
The medal is given to women who embody "the intelligence, drive and independence" of the Oscar-winning college alumna for whom it is named.
Hepburn graduated from Bryn Mawr in 1928. Previous winners include actresses Lauren Bacall and Blythe Danner.
Retail therapy beats a court date any day.
On Thursday, Amanda Bynes skipped her court hearing in L.A. and went shopping instead in New York City. The actress's attorney, Richard Hutton, pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanor counts of hit and run on her behalf, E! News reports. (The charges come from alleged incidents on April 10 and Aug. 4.)
The charges carry a maximum sentence of six months in jail and/or a $1,000 fine for each count. The sentences can run consecutively, i.e. one year and/or a $2,000 fine.
Amanda also skipped her hearing for driving with a suspended license
"Her attorney, Rich Hutton, is highly capable and I have no doubt that he will get her the best deal possible," criminal defense attorney Troy Slaten, who is not associated with Bynes, tells E! News.
"Neither hit and run allegation can be used to enhance any potential punishment from the DUI or vice versa," he says. "Because she was not on probation for any offense when the alleged hit-and-runs occurred, the fact that she is also separately charged with DUI is irrelevant to that case."
Commissioner Rebecca Omens set the next court date for Oct. 19. The actress was ordered to obey all laws and not drive without a valid drivers license. Commissioner Omens ordered Bynes to be officially booked within 48 hours of the Oct. 19 court date.
