Wilmerding-based Wabtec Corp. reported second-quarter profit of $112.5 million, or $0.78 per share, compared to profit of $100.8 million, or $0.67 per share, for the second quarter in 2012.
Profit for the first six months of 2013 was $216 million, or $1.51 per share, compared to profit of $195 million, or $1.29 per share, for the first six months of 2012.
The international freight and transit company outperformed analysts expectations that it would earn $0.73 for the quarter.
Wabtec's second-quarter sales were $638 million compared to $610 million for the second quarter last year.
Sales for the first six months of 2013 were $1.25 billion compared to sales of $1.19 billion for the first six months of 2012.
