India Garden on Atwood Street in Oakland was shut down by the Allegheny County Health Department Friday for multiple critical health code violations including a recurring roach infestation and foods being held at unsafe temperatures.

An inspector observed roaches on top of the buffet, on the kitchen floor, among to-go containers and elsewhere, according to the inspection report.

The restaurant had been hit with a Consumer Alert 10 days earlier and was closed following a reinspection because critical food safety violations had not been corrected, the health department said.

Phone calls to the facility today were not picked up.

Inspection reports for restaurants in the county are available at http://webapps.achd.net/Restaurant/.
