PNC Financial Services Group, the region's biggest bank, this morning said profits in the first quarter climbed 22 percent on revenue that rose 6 percent.
PNC earned $938 million, or $1.76 per share, up from $766 million, or $1.44, in the same three months last year when results were hurt by integration costs from the acquisition of RBC Bank.
Revenue was $3.96 billion vs. $3.73 billion.
Although loan growth slowed in the most recent quarter, expenses fell.
Top executives were set to discuss the results this morning in a conference call with Wall Street analysts.
