Mexico City Restaurant on Wood Street, Downtown, and Long John Silver's in West View were both shut down by the Allegheny County Health Department April 4 for unsanitary conditions.

Both have since received clearance to reopen.

At Mexico City, an inspector found a sewage backup in the basement, fresh rat droppings and other critical food safety violations, some dating back to 2011, according to county inspection reports.

At Long John Silver's, there was a sewage back up in the kitchen.

Inspection reports for county restaurants are available at http://webapps.achd.net/Restaurant/.
