Awards and Honors
Ralph Schmeltz was honored with a prestigious Laureate by the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Schmeltz is a prominent endocrinologist and physician activist. The Laureate is the highest honor offered by the ACP and is presented to fellows and masters of the college who demonstrate by their example and conduct an abiding commitment to excellence in medical care, education, research, service to their community, their chapter and the ACP.
Barbara Hunt, an occupational therapist with Tri Rivers Physical Therapy, earned the certified hand therapist designation from the Hand Therapy Certification Commission.
CMU psychology professor Lori Holt was named a winner of the the 2013 National Academy of Sciences Troland Research Award. The award is given annually to two psychology researchers under the age of 40 to recognize extraordinary scientific achievement and to further promote empirical research on the relationship between consciousness and the physical world. The awards were established by the bequest of Leonard T. Troland, the renowned American physicist.

Local photographer Mary Beth Kratsas, owner of MBK Photography, was awarded five first place trophies at the Triangle Photographers Association's Tri State Fall Print Competition. She earned Imager of the Year Award, which is given based on the photographer with the highest score for all entered photographs throughout the year. In addition, the Best Commercial Photographer of the Year award, a people's choice award and first place awards in the portrait and commercial categories. The Triangle Photographers Association is affiliated with the Professional Photographers of America.
