Pittsburgh Business Group on Health recently elected its directors for the 2012-13 board term. Officers: president, Cheryl Melinchak, Westinghouse Electric Co. Olga Lagunova, distinguished engineer at CA Technologies, has joined the board of directors at the Pennsylvania Diversity Council.


First Commonwealth Bank hired Alan V. DeMarchi as vice president/business banking credit services manager.


Pittsburgh Botanic Garden named the following to its board: chair, Bill Worms, vice president, Bayer MaterialScience LLC; vice chair, Paula A. Schmeck, Bayer Business and Technology Services LLC; treasurer, Gil Davis, managing director, CSD financial and partner, Case|Sabatini; secretary, Judy Wojanis, president, Wojanis Supply Co. Inc.

David Guenther of First Energy was installed as a board member of Glade Run Foundation, a subsidiary of Glade Run Lutheran Services.

Audrey Murrell and Grant Scott III were elected to the board of trustees of Family Services of Western Pennsylvania as emeritus trustees. Ms. Murrell is associate professor of business administration and director of the David Berg Center for Ethics and Leadership in the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Scott is a partner at Kingsland Scott Bauer & Associates.


Jamey Bednez, director of corporate wellness at BABB Inc., was recognized as a recipient of the first annual WELCOA Faculty designation. The Wellness Council of America honors those professionals who display diligence and a commitment to advance their understanding of designing and delivering results-oriented, work-site wellness initiatives. Professionals who have achieved designation must have completed four or more WELCOA results-oriented workplace wellness trainings and/or national conferences.

Richard J. Smith Jr. of MetLife Financial Services was recently licensed as an investment adviser representative. Financial services professionals acting as an investment adviser representative are able to offer advice and analysis about securities to clients. To be licensed as an investment adviser representative, Mr. Smith passed the required competency examination, met the specified experience level and ethical standards, and has registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Mr. Smith is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
