About 200 University of Pittsburgh cafeteria workers who went on strike for three days in April have ratified a three-year contract with food service company Sodexo.
Officials with Service Employees International Union Local 32BJ say the workers will receive at least $1.50 in hourly raises over the life of the contract, with some workers receiving up to $4 an hour. The union says the company is also paying 90 percent of health care premiums for single workers and 80 for family coverage.
The union's last three-year contract with Sodexo expired Feb. 28. Officials with the company based in Gaithersburg, Md., did not immediately return a call for comment.
The union says 150 other campus food service workers are still trying to organize with the local.
