Saturday, November 02, 2002

By Pamela Gaynor, Post-Gazette Staff Writer

Eight Western Pennsylvania companies were among 24 statewide to earn places in Inc. magazine's 2002 roster of the nation's 500 fastest-growing companies.

The companies were ranked according to their sales growth between 1997 and 2001.

The Western Pennsylvania companies listed were No. 68 Phoenix Rehabilitation and Health Services, in Indiana, Indiana County; No. 111 Innovate E-Commerce, in Oakland; No. 161 Scott Pipitone Design in Observatory Hill; No. 206 Service Link in Aliquippa; No. 241 TechRx in Coraopolis; No. 243 Printcafe Software, in the Strip District; No. 373 MHF Logistical Solutions in Cranberry; and No. 403 Diamond Pharmacy Services in Indiana, Indiana County.

Inc.'s analysis of data the 500 companies submitted for the ranking showed their individual sales averaged $24 million last year, while employment at each averaged 160. Nearly three quarters of the companies, or 73 percent, were turning a profit.
