The Pittsburgh Technology 50 The Pittsburgh Technology Council dinner celebrates the region's top 50 high-technology concerns Saturday, October 21, 2000 By Bob Starzynski, Post-Gazette Staff Writer
If LSS Corp. were to grow its revenue as quickly over the next six years as it has over the past three years, it would dwarf Microsoft.
No, that's not at all likely. But the small 22-person data consulting operation in Green Tree enjoyed a 27,948 percent run up in sales from 1997 to 1999, according to information released at a Pittsburgh Technology Council banquet last night.
LSS was the fastest grower in the smallest category of the Tech Council's annual Pittsburgh Technology 50, which recognizes 50 companies in five categories of size that have blossomed the most in the past three years.
Although it is improbable -- perhaps impossible -- for larger companies to experience the percentage growth that LSS has witnessed, the bigger players have still shown impressive statistics. In the middle range of companies, FreeMarkets Inc. showed the biggest gain, with a 1,070 percent climb in the past three years. Of large companies represented in the Tech Council's list, Marconi Communications led the pack with 566 percent growth.
