Riverhounds cancel Collier stadium plans
Paul Heasley, owner of the Riverhounds, has canceled plans to build a soccer stadium complex in Collier. But he still wants to build one somewhere else.
According to Heasley's SportsLegacy Foundation, "economic and construction issues" ended the negotiations for the 150-acre Collier site, which sits along Interstate 79.
"I guess Mr. Heasley will have us back on square one looking for ground," said Cliff Gorski of the SportsLegacy Foundation. The plan still is to build a 10,000-seat stadium, 24 soccer fields and a dorm. Gorski said the foundation will look at new sites around the region.
Research facility for West Deer

The company, which employs more than 700 in Point Breeze and the North Side, has not made a decision about its corporate headquarters. Last year, it considered moving its headquarters to the North Side. Chief Executive Officer Al Kuehn said the company is looking at several other sites in the region.
Health co-op gains members
The Employers Medical Access Partnership said it has signed up 44 companies, representing nearly 2,500 employees and dependents, for the health insurance purchasing cooperative it formed earlier this year in Cambria and Somerset counties. The membership is three times larger than what the group, also known as E.MAP, expected to enroll by this time, said executive director David Straight. Under a three-year contract with UPMC Health Plan, the employers expect to save $2.3 million in premiums compared with what they had expected to pay to other insurers to renew previous insurance contracts, Straight said.
A bit of decadence coming
An incredibly decadent ice cream flavor whipped up by a team from UPMC Health System will arrive in Pittsburgh-area stores next month. The ice cream will be in many area convenience stores and several independent grocers, and a portion of the sales will benefit the Pressley Ridge school.
