Robert C. Denove has been named managing partner of Deloitte & Touche offices in Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Rochester, N.Y.

New offices

The Sanders Microenterprise Development Initiative, a division of the Minority Enterprise Corp. of Southwestern Pennsylvania, has opened a new loan assistance office at 1601 Penn Ave., Wilkinsburg. It will be staffed beginning in mid-August. The satellite office at the UPMC Braddock annex will be closed and all operations and personnel moved to the new location.


New businesses

All Occasions Party Rental will open a party and rental warehouse Aug. 17 at 1060 Montour West Industrial Blvd., Coraopolis.

Petco, a full-service pet store, will open Aug. 11 at North Hills Village on McKnight Road.


Contracts

Bridges was awarded a contract by the University of Pittsburgh to renovate an existing 175,000 office/warehouse building on Thomas Boulevard in East Liberty.

Marmion Advertising has been selected by the Pittsburgh Automobile Trade Association to handle the organization's marketing and advertising.

PWCampbell has been awarded two design/build contracts by First Citizens National Bank in Mansfield, Tioga County, and a design/build contract by Butler Armco Employees Credit Union in Butler.

Burns & Scalo Roofing Co. recently received a roofing contract for the new W.G. Tomko Corporate Headquarters Building in Finleyville.

The IT Group Inc. has received a $12 million contract from the California Department of Transportation for its Storm Water Monitoring and Research Program.


Dividends

Calgon Carbon Corp. declared a dividend of 5 cents per common share, payable Aug. 21 to shareholders of record next Monday.

DQE declared a dividend of 40 cents per share on its common stock, payable Oct. 1 to stockholders of record Sept. 11.

Grants

Chris F. Kemerer, a professor at The University of Pittsburgh's Katz Graduate School of Business, was awarded a $316,165 grant from the National Science Foundation. With the grant, he will produce research on "software evolution" -- the dynamic behavior of software systems over their lifetimes.

Mary Beth Happ, an assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh, is the recipient of an ONS Foundation/Ortho Biotech Inc. Research Grant. The $8,500 award is designed to promote oncology nursing research in the area of symptom assessment and management.

The Wesley Institute has received a grant of $2,000 from Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania for sponorship of the 10th Annual Wesley's Tour of Homes, to take place Oct.1.


Awards

Dr. Robert R. Rogers, director of St. Barnabas Medical Center's dental medicine department, was honored by the Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine at its 9th annual meeting with the Distinguished Service Award and the Immediate Past Presidents Award.

Black Box Corp. was named to the 2000 VARBusiness 500 list, called "The Architects of the New Economy."

Lori Colussi won the Woodruff Family Services excellence award.

Tammie E. Wehrle, nurse manager for medical oncology at Monongahela Valley Hospital and Regional Cancer Center, is the 1999-2000 recipient of the Quality of Life Award from the Washington County Unit of the American Cancer Society. J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers said one of its truck bodies received a first place award for best dump truck at the TFC Truck Rally.

William F. Goodrich, a founding partner of Goodrich, Goodrich & Lazzara, recieved the Milton D. Rosenberg award given by the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association at its annual convention awards dinner.

Dick Corp. has been chosen as the General Services Administration regional "Contractor of the Month" for July for construction of the new federal courthouse in downtown Cleveland.


Honors

James Shaw has been designated a certified business continuity professional.

The Religious Art and Architecture Design Awards chose Douglas Hoffman, from Weber Murphy Fox Inc., to head this year's awards jury.
