Ruling stops court action by Pa. attorney general

Tuesday, October 27, 1998

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge M. Bruce McCullough yesterday stopped the state attorney general's office from taking any action related to a petition it filed in Orphan's Court Friday.

The petition sought the appointment of a trustee to oversee Allegheny General Hospital's endowment funds and dismissal of directors who also served on boards of the hospital's parent foundation or its bankrupt Philadelphia affiliates.

The judge's order said that the bankruptcy court, by virtue of Allegheny Health Education and Research Foundation's Chapter 11 case, has jurisdiction over the issues taken to Orphan's Court.
