Bernstein-Burkley, P.C. announced that Kit F. Pettit was named a partner, responsible for the management of the real estate practice, as well its business law and oil, gas and energy practices. Mr. Pettit focuses on transactional matters related to the acquisition, sale and development of commercial real estate. He also routinely represents financial institutions and borrowers in commercial and corporate finance transactions. His work with the oil, gas & energy and business law practices focuses on the representation of property owners in leasing matters and all types of land use agreements.


Michael I. Danovitz was appointed to the volunteer board of the Intergovernmental Cooperation Authority. Mr. Danovitz is a founding partner of Eckman & Danovitz. He earned his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Grogan Graffam, P.C. said Ruth M. Gunnell was elected president of the Young Leadership Board of Girls Hope of Pittsburgh. Ms. Gunnell is an associate in the litigation practice group and concentrates her practice in commercial litigation, insurance defense and general tort defense. She received her law degree from George Mason University. Girls Hope helps academically talented girls in-need by providing value-centered, family-like homes, opportunities and education through college.

The Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania appointed P. Brennan Hart, a partner at Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti, LLP, to serve for a three-year term. As part of his new position, Mr. Hart will support efforts to make lawyers more aware of the functions of the board and increase awareness of the rules of professional conduct. The board is an independent agency under the court’s jurisdiction that assists it in all matters involving attorney licensing and discipline. Mr. Hart received his law degree from Duquesne University.

Kyle R. Smith joined Bernstein-Burkley, P.C. as an associate, real estate practice area, which focuses on transactional matters related to the acquisition, sale and development of commercial real estate, the representation of financial institutions and borrowers in commercial and corporate finance transactions, property tax assessment appeals, and oil and gas matters.

The Legal Intelligencer has named Meyer, Unkovic & Scott as the 2014 Litigation Department of the Year in the mid-size category. The Legal Intelligencer’s panel of judges evaluated law firms on litigation results that demonstrated why clients selected the firm for representation.

Gary J. Ogg was selected as a 2014 Pennsylvania Super Lawyer. Mr. Ogg is a founding member of Ogg, Murphy & Perkosky. Also selected to the list was Michael A. Murphy in the area of worker’s compensation. David K. Houck was honored as a 2014 Rising Star by the publication.
