Accounting

Ja­son Eber­hardt joined BKD LLP as a mem­ber of its in­ter­na­tional tax ser­vices and state and lo­cal tax ser­vices di­vi­sions. He will serve as se­nior man­ag­ing con­sul­tant spe­cial­iz­ing in trans­fer pric­ing.

Gov. Tom Cor­bett has re­ap­pointed An­nie Hanna Cestra to the Penn­syl­va­nia Depart­ment of State Real Estate Com­mis­sion. Ms. Cestra is the ex­ec­u­tive vice pres­i­dent and chief op­er­at­ing of­fi­cer at Howard Hanna Real Estate Ser­vices.

Aon Risk So­lu­tions hired Rosanna Tera­mana as se­nior con­sul­tant for the health and ben­e­fits prac­tice in the Pitts­burgh of­fice.

Education

Mink­ing K. Chyu, the Leigh­ton and Mary Orr chair pro­fes­sor and for­mer chair of the Depart­ment of Me­chan­i­cal Engi­neer­ing and Ma­teri­als Science, was ap­pointed as the in­au­gu­ral as­so­ci­ate dean for in­ter­na­tional ini­tia­tives at the Univer­sity of Pitts­burgh’s Swan­son School of Engi­neer­ing, as well as the in­au­gu­ral dean of the Si­chuan Univer­sity-Pitts­burgh In­sti­tute in China. Brian Glee­son, the Harry S. Tack chair pro­fes­sor of ma­teri­als sci­ence and di­rec­tor of Pitt’s Center for Energy, will suc­ceed Mr. Chyu as de­part­ment chair of MEMS.

Insurance

Hen­der­son Broth­ers Inc. hired Brian Kelly, ac­count an­a­lyst, group ben­e­fits de­part­ment; Mark Ver­nal­lis, sales as­so­ci­ate, large com­mer­cial lines de­part­ment; and Wil­liam Fer­gu­son, fi­nan­cial ad­vi­ser at Hen­der­son Broth­ers Re­tire­ment Plan Ser­vices.

Mayada Man­sour joined MGR Youth Em­pow­er­ment as its new di­rec­tor.

Awards and Honors

M. Ravi Shan­kar, as­so­ci­ate pro­fes­sor of in­dus­trial en­gi­neer­ing and Wil­liam Kepler White­ford fa­culty fel­low, was rec­og­nized by the In­sti­tute of In­dus­trial Engi­neers with one of its top ac­a­demic awards dur­ing the 2014 IIE An­nual Con­fer­ence and Expo in Mon­treal. Mr. Shan­kar re­ceived the Dr. Hamed K. Eldin Out­stand­ing Early Ca­reer IE in Academia Award, which rec­og­nizes in­di­vid­u­als in academia who have demon­strated out­stand­ing char­ac­ter­is­tics in ed­u­ca­tion, lead­er­ship, pro­fes­sion­al­ism and po­ten­tial in in­dus­trial en­gi­neer­ing. The award also ac­knowl­edges en­gi­neer­ing con­tri­bu­tions in ap­pli­ca­tion, de­sign, re­search or de­vel­op­ment of IE meth­ods by early ca­reer IIE mem­bers. Can­di­dates are eval­u­ated upon re­search and schol­ar­ship, ed­u­ca­tional con­tri­bu­tions, and ser­vice to the in­dus­trial en­gi­neer­ing pro­fes­sion.

Two lo­cal gen­eral man­ag­ers have been pre­sented with Darden Res­tau­rants’ Di­a­mond Club sta­tus. Each year, gen­eral man­ag­ers through­out North Amer­ica who demon­strate out­stand­ing re­sults by show­ing strong and in­spir­ing lead­er­ship while also achiev­ing top fi­nan­cial per­for­mance in the com­pany’s pre­vi­ous fis­cal year are rec­og­nized. The lo­cal man­ag­ers in­clude: Jerry Guire of the Olive Garden in Wash­ing­ton and Heather Gray­tok of the LongHorn Steak­house in Cran­berry.

Bender Con­sult­ing Ser­vices Inc. an­nounced that Ni­cole Char­lotte Kay of Monaca was the win­ner of the 2014 Sam Miller Award. This award was es­tab­lished in 2012 by the Bender Con­sult­ing Ser­vices’ Bender Lead On Team, a group of high school and col­lege stu­dents with dis­abil­i­ties, work­ing to ad­vo­cate for com­pet­i­tive em­ploy­ment, self-em­pow­er­ment and anti-bul­ly­ing. The award hon­ors the mem­ory of Sam Miller, who was a ded­i­cated mem­ber of the Bender Lead On Team.

Pittsburgh Stock & Bond Association changed its name to the Pittsburgh Society of Investment Professionals.

Durable Mecco ac­quired the steel stamp di­vi­sion of Stamp-Rite Su­persine Inc. Lau­rie Bar­cas­key was named as ac­count man­ager for this group of cus­tom­ers. Stamp-Rite Su­persine, lo­cated in Lansing, Mich­., has been man­u­fac­tur­ing a wide range of iden­ti­fi­ca­tion prod­ucts in­clud­ing signs, la­bels, rub­ber and steel stamps since 1955.

OSS Inc. an­nounced they are pro­vid­ing se­cu­rity guard ser­vices for PWC Prop­erty So­lu­tions’ multitenant com­mer­cial prop­er­ties in Cran­berry and War­ren­dale.
