David Louis joined First Commonwealth Bank as vice president and office manager of the Robinson Township branch.

Civil & Environmental Consultants Inc. hired Michael L. Schumaker as a new principal in the civil engineering practice of its Pittsburgh headquarters office.

West Liberty University selected William A. Childers Jr. as director of the Physician Assistant Studies program.

Whitman, Requardt & Associates LLP announced that Don Hall joined its firm. UnitedHealthcare hired Joshua Trembulak as an account executive and Joseph Balash as a strategic account executive.

Nonprofit

Timothy M. Yorty was hired as mass care/logistics specialist for the Western Pennsylvania Region of the American Red Cross.

Jewish Family & Children's Service of Pittsburgh installed officers and board members for its 2014-15 fiscal year. Officers installed include: Wendy M. Mars, Ph.D., as continuing board chair, board chair-elect; Jeffery D. Freedman, Scott I. Americus, Matthew A. Keller, M.D., and Carol Robinson as vice chairs; David R. Lassman as treasurer; Rachel B. Clark as secretary; and Eric J. Perelman as at-large member. Awards and Honors

Giant Eagle Inc. employee Carly Goebel was honored with the 2014 Top Women in Convenience Rising Star Award presented by Convenience Store News. Ms. Goebel, a category buyer for GetGo & Giant Eagle Express, is among just 30 women nationwide to be recognized for their innovation in implementing corporate initiatives, problem-solving expertise, exceptional performance and active involvement in the communities where they live.

Cathy Niederberger, managing director of Community Development Banking for PNC Bank, received the 2014 Council's Award from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh for excellence in community investment. Named in recognition of FHLBank Pittsburgh's Affordable Housing Advisory Council, the annual award provides special recognition to an outstanding banker who has demonstrated superior professional commitment and community spirit. The award highlights accomplishments and services in meeting FHLBank's affordable housing and community investment mission.
