James Halttunen was named interim curator of the Fort Pitt Block House, Pittsburgh's oldest architectural landmark.

Awards & Honors

Joseph Molinero, investment management consultant with Morgan Stanley, was awarded the Accredited Investment Fiduciary Designation from the Center of Fiduciary Studies. The AIF Designation signifies knowledge of fiduciary responsibility and the ability to implement policies and procedures that meet a defined standard of care.

Jennifer Aitken, associate professor of chemistry and biochemistry at Duquesne University, was presented the 2014 Chairman's Award for her work with the Project SEED. The program, hosted by Duquesne, places high school students from disadvantaged areas with university mentors and involves them in conducting research on campus over the summer. The group has supported Project SEED programming for several years, enhancing the ability of the program to reach out to students who otherwise might not consider science careers. In addition to honoring Ms. Aitken, the group provided additional money to support this year's program.

The Pittsburgh Airport Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the members of the 2014-15 Honorary Commanders Association class. They are: Raymond Amelio, Fragasso Financial Advisors; Jeff Belsky, Pittsburgh Technical Institute; Dan Buzza, Glenn Machine Company Inc.; Jonathan Brett Fulesday, Grossman Yanak & Ford LLP; Vince Gastgeb, Allegheny County Airport Authority; Kristi Hilbert, 3 Rivers Wealth Management Group; Sonja Matokovich, Embassy Suites Hotel; Charles Reszetylo, C.J. Reszetylo Tax and Accounting Services; and Jim Stevens, Right at Home of West Pittsburgh

Sister Rosemary Donley, S.C., professor of nursing and the Jacques Laval Chair for Justice for Vulnerable Populations at Duquesne, was honored with a Leadership in Advocacy Honorable Mention Award from the Association for Community Affiliated Plans. The award recognizes individuals who advocate for Medicaid or other low-income health programs and the vulnerable populations these programs serve.

Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens was awarded the Sustainability Excellence Award in the Programming category from the American Alliance of Museums PIC Green Network. Established to educate, facilitate and encourage green practice, and to acknowledge and celebrate leaders in environmental sustainability.

Bayer Corp. was named a 2014 Responsible Care Company of the Year by the American Chemistry Council in recognition of its commitment to continual improvement in environmental, health, safety and security performance. ACC's top honor is awarded to member companies that have enhanced and embraced the Responsible Care ethic throughout their organizations. Each year, the ACC names Responsible Care Company of the Year recipients in the small, medium and large company categories.

The International Foodservice Manufacturers Association bestowed its highest honor, the Gold Plate Award, to Jim Broadhurst, chairman, Eat'n Park Hospitality Group. The Gold & Silver Plate Awards acknowledge the most outstanding talent in the food-service industry. The award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated leadership, achievement and innovation; have made lasting contributions to the food-service industry; and have shown civic pride through voluntary involvement in community activities.

Fairmont Pittsburgh was named Fairmont Hotels & Resorts' 2013 Hotel of the Year. This award recognizes the Fairmont hotel with the best overall operating performance, and this leading North American property has truly exemplified a commitment to excellence.
