Architecture

Heather Marra has rejoined the professional staff at WTW Architects.

Associations & Organizations

Dennis Kennedy, chief financial officer, AE Works, was named president of the Southwestern Chapter of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

The ACE Mentor Program of Western Pennsylvania elected officers. They are: chairman, Michael Barnard, Oxford Development; vice chairman, George Halkias, Stantec; treasurer, Tom Callahan, Crown Advisors; secretary, Danny Cerrone, Clark Hill Thorp Reed; and executive director, Anastasia Herk, Ibacos.

Banking & Financial

First Commonwealth Bank hired Nathan Sommer as office manager of the Grant Street branch.

BNY Mellon, a global leader in investment management and investment services, appointed Anthony F. Brady as managing director and global head of the Business Strategy & Market Solutions Group for BNY Mellon's Treasury Services business.

Contractor & Construction

Boris Caro Vargas joined Nicholson Construction as leader of its business development group.

Education

Shady Side Academy appointed Gilbert Schneider as chief financial officer, effective July 1. Mr. Schneider will take the reins of the Academy's Business Office from Tom Arnold, current vice president for finance, who is leaving Shady Side in June to become the chief financial officer at Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio.

Jeff Mallory was named director of multicultural affairs in Duquesne University's Division of Student Life.

Insurance

Henderson Brothers Inc. hired Eric Rheam and Maria Romito as assistant vice presidents in its employee benefits department.

Mortgage

Ryan R. Dowiak joined Holland Mortgage Advisors to coordinate its processing and closing/funding departments.

Nonprofit

The board of Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania elected David Lund and Mauro L. Macioce as directors of the diversified human services agency. Mr. Lund is vice president of loss prevention for Dick's Sporting Goods Inc., and Mr. Macioce is vice president of corporate tax for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Technology

EFI hired veteran software executive Gabriel Matsliach as general manager and senior vice president of EFI Productivity Software.

Steve A. Day joined BEA Inc. as director of marketing.

Awards and Honors

Karris Jackson, vice president of programs at POISE Foundation, was named the 2014 recipient of the Emerging Leader in Philanthropy Award from The Association of Black Foundation Executives, a national association membership organization that promotes effective and responsive philanthropy in black communities. Established in 2002, this award recognizes an outstanding individual whose innovative leadership promotes philanthropy as a means of social change in black communities and advances ABFE's mission.

John Carroll University named Brookline native Jeanne M. Colleran university provost and academic vice president, effective Aug. 4.
