Rob Rex joined MARC USA as the senior vice president/director of digital strategy.

Associations & Organizations

Lynell Scaff, executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters Beaver County, was appointed by the commonwealth of Pennsylvania to the governor's office to serve as member of the State Board of Accountancy.

Education

Duquesne University School of Nursing has named a new associate dean for academic affairs and a new chair of graduate nursing programs. Alison M. Colbert, chair of graduate nursing programs and assistant professor of nursing, will start her new role as associate dean effective July 1. She will replace Joan Such Lockhart.

Nursing professor Rick Zoucha will replace Ms. Colbert as the new chair of graduate nursing programs effective July 1. Mr. Zoucha teaches courses in transcultural and global nursing as well as psychosocial nursing.

Foundation

West Liberty University Foundation announced the appointment of new board members: Jack Adams and Russell Dunkin.

Insurance

Henderson Brothers Inc. hired Kevin Byer as help desk technician, information technology department, and Jayme L. Griffith as account analyst, group benefits department.

Libraries

Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh's Board of Trustees elected new trustees and officers. The following new members will serve a three-year term on the board: Patrick Dowd, executive director, Allies for Children, and Patricia Siger, consultant, United Way of Allegheny County. Trustees re-elected to serve a second three-year term on the board include: Judge Kim Berkeley Clark, Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County; Tom Galante, vice president of human resources, The Bank of New York Mellon Corp.; and Ramayya Krishnan, dean of Heinz College, Carnegie Mellon University. Officers elected for terms ending May 2016 include: Carol Robinson, president, Robinson Management, (first vice chair); Henry Beukema III, president and co-director of equity research, Guyasuta Investment Advisors, (second vice chair); Percy Simpson, senior vice president, Line of Business Marketing, The PNC Financial Services Group, (treasurer); and Bruce Kraus, Pittsburgh City Council President representing District 3, (secretary). Continuing as chair of the board with a term ending 2015 is Lou Testoni, retired market managing partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers Lake Erie Market. In addition, during the meeting it was announced that Sen. Jay Costa Jr. (43rd District) was appointed a Life Trustee.

Logistics

Jonathon Krystek was promoted to chief operating officer at Knichel Logistics.

Museum

Carnegie Science Center announced that Trip Oliver joined its board. Mr. Oliver is the manager of Policy, Government and Public Affairs for Chevron's Appalachian/Michigan Strategic Business Unit.

Awards and Honors

The US Trade & Commerce Institute has selected Mindful Kreative Inc. as a recipient of the 2013 Pennsylvania Excellence Award for distinction in marketing amongst all its peers and competitors. Each year, the USTCI conducts business surveys and industry research to identify companies that have achieved demonstrable success in their local business environment and industry category.

Jason Bendik, shareholder at Pandolfo & Associates, earned his CPA license and will expand services for the accounting business.

The Washington County Chamber of Commerce announced Washington County Commissioner Diana Irey Vaughan as the 2014 Washington County ATHENA Award Recipient. The 2014 finalists included: Mary Anna Babich, Dawood Engineering; Sheila J. Cowieson, Community Bank; Donna L. Ramusivich, Monongahela Valley Hospital; and Aleta Richmond, Pennsylvania Federation of Business & Professional Women.
