Julian E. Gray, certified elder law attorney and owner, was named Best Lawyers 2014 Pittsburgh Elder Law Lawyer of the Year. Frank A. Petrich, certified elder law attorney with Julian Gray Associates, was listed in the Best Lawyers in America for 2014 in the area of elder law. Mr. Petrich was the first attorney certified as an elder law attorney in Western Pennsylvania, granted by the National Elder Law Foundation.

Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC announced Hannah T. Frank and Jennifer R. Minter will join Brian S. North as co-chairs of the firm's securities and SEC practice.

Craig S. Heryford will join Mary Ann Dunham as co-chair of the mergers and acquisitions practice, and Perry S. Patterson will chair its venture capital practice.

Edward B. Gentilcore, shareholder and director, Sherrard, German and Kelly, P.C., was selected by Best Lawyers as a Lawyer of the Year in Pittsburgh -- Construction Law for 2014.

Additionally, he has been recognized by his peers for inclusion in the 2014 Edition of The Best Lawyers in America in both construction law and litigation-construction.

Brian P. Fagan and Matthew R. D'Ascenzo, members, and Justin M. Tuskan, associate, joined Metz Lewis Brodman Must O'Keefe LLC.

Mr. Fagan and Mr. Tuskan have joined the its litigation group and Mr. D'Ascenzo joined its corporate transactions and securities group.

Dinsmore & Shohl said the following attorneys were selected for inclusion in the 2014 edition of The Best Lawyers in America: Christopher B. Brewer, public finance law; Edmund M. Carney, employment law, energy law, labor law, mining law, natural resources law; Anthony A. Ditka, public finance law; Joel M. Helmrich, bankruptcy and creditor debtor rights/insolvency and reorganization law; Philip J. Murray, mass tort litigation/class actions; Thomas C. Reed, mining law, natural resources law; C. James Zeszutek, commercial litigation, insurance law, banking and finance, bankruptcy, mergers and acquisitions, mass tort litigation/class actions, product liability.

Scott Leah, shareholder and member of the litigation department of Tucker Arensberg, was elected chair of the civil litigation section of the Allegheny County Bar Association.

The section works with judges in the Court of Common Pleas and Federal District Court on questions and problems concerning civil litigation.

The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania appointed C. Robert Keenan III, shareholder, Davies, McFarland & Carroll, P.C. to the Board of Law Examiners. He will serve a three-year term. The board is responsible for recommending the admission of people to the practice of law in Pennsylvania.

The following attorneys with Gentile, Horoho & Avalli, P.C. were selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2014 for their work in the area of family law. They are: Mark R. Alberts, Charles J. Avalli, Kerri Lee Cappella, Gary G. Gentile, Harry J. Gruener and Kenneth J. Horoho Jr. In addition, Mr. Avalli was recognized in the areas of trusts and estates.
