Associations & Organizations

Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta elected its 2012-13 leadership team. Chairman: John Bonassi, senior consultant and adjunct professor, West Liberty University; vice chairman and secretary: Joe Kirk, Point of Pittsburgh Sailing League; vice chairman: J.D. Fogarty, Port of Pittsburgh. Also named to the board: Tim Solobay, state senator, and Brian Krul, Dennis Tubbs and Don Korb. Corey Deible serves as treasurer and Greg Harbaugh as assistant secretary.

The Construction Legislative Council of Western Pennsylvania announced the election of its officers for 2012-13: chairman, Joseph Kirk, Constructors Association of Western PA; vice chairman, Gregory Scott, American Society of Civil Engineers, Pittsburgh Section; treasurer, Rich Barcaskey, Constructors Association of Western PA; and secretary, Jon O'Brien, Master Builders' Association of Western PA.

Buck Consultants hired Chris Isaacs as a principal in the knowledge resources practice.

Education

Point Park University said Edward E. Scott was selected as the George Rowland White endowed assistant professor of accounting and finance for the university's School of Business.

Carlow University named Deborah F. Graver, president and chief operating officer, Fragasso Financial Advisors, to its board of trustees.

Carlow named Lourdes Sanchez Ridge, senior counsel, Thorp Reed & Armstrong and president of the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, to its board of trustees.

RETTEW hired Thomas "Brad" Burwell, group manager, natural sciences division, Canton, Ohio, office; Michael J. Goff, senior engineer, civil/municipal group, Canton office; Kevin M. McCarthy, senior environmental scientist, natural sciences division Canton office; and Derek H. The United Methodist Foundation of Western Pennsylvania elected its board: chairman, James Sekel; vice chairman, Richard K. Thomas; secretary, the Rev. Donald G. Scandrol; treasurer, Thomas Heisey; and assistant treasurers, Sara Mercer and Fred Watts.

Pittsburgh Botanic Garden named to its board David J. Thor, associate, a commercial real estate professional Colliers International; and Mandy Kiggins, senior director, Giant Eagle Inc.

The American Red Cross named Victor Roosen, regional emergency services director for the organization's Western Pennsylvania Region.

Professional Services

NAES Corp. hired Mark Minniti as vice president and general manager of the NAES Power Contractors office in Cranberry.

Public Agencies

VisitPittsburgh hired Angela K. Corvello as its director, convention sales.

Technology

HyperActive Technologies hired Dan Villas as vice president of business development, major accounts.

Awards/Honors

BPU Investment Management Inc. announced the selection of three financial advisers as 2012 FIVE STAR Wealth Managers for the Pittsburgh area. They are: Michael Fetterolf, vice president and financial adviser; Donna Cheswick, assistant vice president and financial adviser; and Arthur Hazen, director of retirement plans and financial adviser. The survey conducted by Five Star Professional, an independent third-party research firm, received nominations among all wealth managers in the area from peers or firms and evaluated the nominees based on 10 objective criteria including client retention rates, client assets administered, firm review and favorable regulatory and complaint history.

Ellen Weber, vice president, NexTier Insurance Services LLC, received the Agency Hands in the Community grant award for her commitment to volunteerism. The grant program recognizes insurance agents for outstanding community service with a $1,000 donation to a charitable organization.
