Health

Dr. Alessia Tandin joined the medical staff at West Penn Hospital Forbes Regional Campus. A board-certified general surgeon, Dr. Tandin's practice includes all core general surgery procedures from basic evaluation and consultation to treatment and management of general surgery-related problems.

Walter Thomas McGough Jr. will join the executive staff of UPMC as chief legal officer on Jan. 1. Her is a partner with Reed Smith, where he also serves as a member of the executive committee and former chair of the litigation department.

Insurance

MetLife hired Brian M. Martin as a financial services representative.

Manufacturing

Pittsburgh Corning Corp. appointed James R. Kane president.

Michael Baker Jr. Inc., an engineering unit of Michael Baker Corp., appointed Mark E. Moore vice president and leader of its oil and gas engineering business development.

Marketing

Quest Fox Interactive hired Brendon Gonzalez as an interactive developer.

Nonprofit

Kathleen Rawlins named executive director of the American Red Cross Beaver-Lawrence Chapter.

Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council elected officers for its board for the 2010-11 year. President: Martin Fritz, president, EQT Midstream at EQT Corp.; vice president: Susan Gilbert, principal, Mercer; secretary: Jackie Kalocay-Hogg, director of marketing and communications, Houston Harbaugh; and treasurer: Chuck Hardoby, vice president, Consol Energy. And new members named are Izach Porter, vice president and area sales manager, First Niagara Bank; Jennifer Rogers, consultant, Development Dimensions International; and Steven Sokoloski, regional account representative, Comcast.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Pennsylvania and Southern West Virginia named new members to its board: Connie Cibrone, knowledge expert, McKinsey & Co.; Kristen Clark, group vice president of marketing, H.J. Heinz Co.; Dr. Richard Kasdan, founder, Associates in Neurology of Pittsburgh; and James Swistock, retired founder and president, Penncara Energy. And Ann Hohn was promoted to chief operating officer, and Deb Nichols was promoted to director of program services.

The Pennsylvania Resources Council named Robert Jondreau executive director.

Sojourner House and Sojourner House MOMS named new members: Cori Begg, promotions and advertising manager, Girl Scouts of Western Pennsylvania; Jean E. Novak, senior attorney, Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky; and Charlotte Mateer Stephenson, trustee of the Donald D. Mateer Foundation and a registered dental hygienist. And Patricia Pelino was named secretary of the board of Sojourner House. Ms. Pelino is client relationship manager at BNY Mellon.

Westinghouse Electric Co.'s Nuclear Automation appointed Joni Falascino vice president, major projects delivery for Nuclear Automation, effective Nov. 1, 2010.

Technology

Invivodata inc. promoted Jodi Andrews to senior marketing manager and Shannon Gregg to manager, sales operations.
