Highmark Inc.'s insurance division has agreed to a multi-year reimbursement contract with St. Clair Hospital, ensuring that Highmark's customers will have access to the Mt. Lebanon health center.
The new contract, announced today, will also give Highmark members access services now offered at St. Clair's new Peters Township Outpatient Center.
The center opened in June. Access to the center had been a point of dispute -- Highmark had said it would not credential the center "until the Mt. Lebanon-based hospital signs a long-term extension of its provider agreement with Highmark."
The two organizations have been in discussions for a contract extension since late February.
In a statement, James M. Collins, president and CEO of St. Clair Hospital, said "St. Clair is pleased that we have reached a fair and equitable agreement with Highmark ... We are looking forward to continuing to be a participating provider in all Highmark products."
Highmark did not announce the duration of the contract.mobilehome - breaking - region - businessnews - neigh_south - health
