ENERGY

Moody and Associates, Inc. hired Jay Winter as a senior geologist. Mr. Winter is a licensed professional geologist in Pennsylvania and brings more than 25 years of experience in both the environmental regulatory and consulting fields. He will act in a supervisory capacity in Moody’s Mining Consulting Group, which deals with all three stages of the mining process: permitting, monitoring operations, and post-mining.

He will be assisting Moody with deep mining, coal refuse, and preparation plant projects in the bituminous coal field as well as providing geologic and hydrogeologic experience on environmental and groundwater related services in other business areas.

LAW

The members of the Allegheny County Bar Association Business Law Section elected Amanda Gerstnecker of Meyer, Unkovic & Scott to its Executive Council as program chairwoman.

The ACBA Business Law Section reviews laws relating to corporations, commerce and banking. It also provides educational and networking opportunities for its members.

Ms. Gerstnecker is a member of the firm’s corporate and business law and real estate and lending groups. She earned her degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Dinsmore & Shohl announced that PJ Murray was elected to the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County. He is partner with the Pittsburgh office of Dinsmore & Shohl. He concentrates his practice in civil litigation matters, including employment, construction, banking and general business law. Mr. Murray received his degree from The Duquesne University School of Law.

Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney said The Legal 500 recommended associate Ralph G. Fischer for his work in patent prosecution – utility and design patents. Mr. Fischer earned his degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

 

Gene Tabachnick joined Beck & Thomas, P.C. as a shareholder. Over the past 25 years, he has focused his practice on patents, trademarks, copyrights, and related antitrust and unfair competition matters, with an emphasis on intellectual property litigation. He joins Beck & Thomas, P.C. from Reed Smith, where he has been a partner since 1997. Mr. Tabachnick received his degree from Rutgers Law School.

Zimmer Kunz announced that Dara DeCourcy, George Stewart and Joseph Selep have been selected as Pennsylvania Super Lawyers and Joseph Butcher and Greg Scheuring have again been recognized as Pennsylvania Rising Stars.

For Mr. Stewart and Mr. Selep, this is the sixth year in a row that they have been recognized as top civil litigation attorneys. Ms. DeCourcy is being recognized for her expertise in appellate practice and insurance coverage. Mr. Butcher is being recognized as in the general and employment litigation practice areas and Mr. Scheuring in civil litigation.
