Pennsylvania unemployment rate unchanged in June

Unemployment in Pennsylvania was 5.6 percent in June, unchanged from May, the state Department of Labor and Industry reported this morning.

Employers also added 1,800 jobs to the state payrolls, according to this morning’s report. Over the last year, employers have added 56,700 jobs.

While the unemployment rate was unchanged, 22,000 fewer people were working. The number of people who were unemployed also fell by 6,000 as 28,000 people left the labor force.

Over the last year, the labor force has fallen by 62,000 people.
